11 DAY – CAPE TOWN AND KRUGER NATIONAL PARK  

This is a classic route, but it certainly allows us to fully explore the highlights of the extraordinary Cape region and much of 'the worldwide famous Kruger’ National Park. From great food and fine wines to the legendary Garden Route. This tour combines the main attractions that South Africa offers. A few days to visit the city of Cape Town and the various excursions that can be done in this area, such as the extraordinary Table Mountain, continuing onto the legendary Garden Route that offers a kaleidoscope of gorgeous scenery.

The last day will be spent in a lodge within the Kruger National Park in search of the famous Big Five, and through the stunning Panorama Route in Mpumalanga region.

Day 01: CAPE TOWN – TABLE MOUNTAIN

Overnight in 3 star Hotel – B&B

Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by a local English-speaking tour guide and welcomed into South Africa’s popular “Mother City”. You will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Depending on your flight arrival time and if you wish we will transfer to Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Cape Town’s premier shopping and entertainment complex – to enjoy lunch at one of our many local restaurants. After lunch, we embark on an afternoon excursion to Cape Town’s most famous landmark - Table Mountain. No visit to Cape Town would be complete without a cable car ride to the top of the mountain. Photo opportunities from the top of this massif provide one with unequalled panoramic views of Cape Town. Late afternoon return to your hotel with time to relax and freshen up before dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 02: CAPE TOWN – CAPE OF GOOD HOPE

Overnight in 3 star Hotel - B&B

Today will be a full day’s excursion where we will take a scenic drive along the Cape Peninsula stopping in Hout Bay to enjoy a short boat cruise to Seal Island to see our large Cape Fur seal colony. At the tip of the Cape Peninsula you will find Cape Point situated within the Cape Peninsula National Park where we will transfer to the Lighthouse lookout by funicular or on foot for spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean. Also included in today’s outing will be a visit to Boulders Beach to view our resident African Penguin colony. A light lunch of sandwiches and drinks will be enjoyed en route. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Activities included: Seal island cruise, park entry fees to Cape Point Nature reserve, Funicular and Boulders Beach

Day 03: CAPE TOWN – ROBBEN ISLAND & KIRSTENBOSCH BOTANICAL GARDENS

Overnight in 3 star Hotel – B&B

This morning we will depart our hotel for a morning tour to the well-known Robben Island previously home to many political prisoners, including ex-President, Nelson Mandela. Today this old prison is purely a tourist attraction where tours are conducted by some of the ex-inmates.

After lunch we will depart for an afternoon excursion to Cape Town’s most popular garden – Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens – to acquaint ourselves with some of the Cape’s indigenous flora.

The beautiful Kirstenbosch gardens cover an area of 528 hectares with 36 hectares of cultivated garden. The gardens are a celebration of South African flora - showcasing only indigenous South African plants. Fynbos, proteas, cycads and rolling lawns are intermingled with streams and ponds and well-laid out pathways for easy walking.

Activities included: Entry Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and Ferry cruise to Robben Island

Day 04: CAPE TOWN – WINELAND

Overnight in 3 star Hotel – B&B

Today we will depart for the beautiful Cape Wineland areas of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek – situated within the heart of South Africa’s wine industry. Here you will have the opportunity to enjoy wine-tastings at some of our local award-winning wine estates. A light lunch will be served at one of the many wine estates along the way.

Day 05: HERMANUS - HEIDELBERG

Overnight at Skeiding Guest farm or similar – Dinner, B&B

In the early morning we depart for Hermanus, situated approximately 2 hours by road from Franshoek. After a brief visit to the village of Hermanus we will drive to Gansbaai where you can brave venture into the sea or a Shark cage dive or a 'simple' boat excursion in search of the 'Marine Big Five' (seals, penguins, dolphins, whales and Pascual). Departure around 3pm for the Garden Route and arrival in the late afternoon to your Guest Farm situated in the Langeberg mountains.

Day 06: GARDEN ROUTE - KNYSNA

Overnight at Protea Hotel Knysna Quays or similar – B&B

After breakfast, we depart Hermanus for the start of our journey along the scenically beautiful Garden Route. Your route will take you via Mossel Bay and George to the coastal holiday village of Knysna – this quaint town has been voted South Africa’s favorite town. It is the place of adventure, with everything from adrenaline-thumping extreme sports to the more relaxing pleasures of arts, crafts and culture. The Waterfront at the Knysna Quays is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, and offers unusual restaurants, bookshops, clothes, gifts and jewelry stores. Lunch will be enjoyed at Knysna’s popular Waterfront. After lunch we will enjoy a sunset cruise on board of the John Benn, taking in the spectacular scenery of the Knysna Heads. There are plenty of local restaurants to choose from as dinner venues.

Day 07: GARDEN ROUTE - KNYSNA

Overnight at Protea Hotel Knysna Quays or similar – B&B

After breakfast, we will make our way to Tsitsikamma National Park where the most adventurous will have the option of enjoying an exhilarating tree top canopy tour. This will take approximately 3 hours, after which we will visit Monkeyland and Birds of Eden, stopping for lunch along the way. Late afternoon we return to Knysna in time to freshen before dinner.

Activities included: Entry to Monkeyland and Birds of Eden.

Day 08: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – MPUMALANGA – PANORAMA ROUTE

Overnight at Bohm’s Zeederberg– Dinner, B&B

Today we depart to Port Elizabeth / George where we will take a flight to Johannesburg.

Upon arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, we drive along the N12 or the N4 towards East. At Belfast turn for Dullstroom and start the Panorama Route. Your route leads you via Lydenberg and stop at Pilgrim’s Rest, where you will have the opportunity to explore living history in this old mining village where gold was first discovered.

You will stop for lunch (own account) along the way and arrive at your Guesthouse in the afternoon in time to relax before dinner.

Day 09: MPUMALANGA - KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Overnight in an accessible Chalet, Kruger National Park – only accommodation

After a leisurely breakfast, we depart for the well-known Kruger National Park.

After lunch, we continue on our way towards Kruger National Park. The park was established in 1898 and stretches for 350kms from south to north along the Mozambique border to where South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe meet. Well known for its diversity of habitat and wildlife, Kruger offers visitors an excellent opportunity to experience close encounters with elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard in a natural unfenced environment. Wild dog, cheetah, zebra, giraffe and a variety of other species are also indigenous to this park. Late afternoon arrival in your camp situated inside the Park. If time permits, we may go for a late afternoon game drive.

Day 10: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Overnight in an accessible Chalet, Kruger National Park – only accommodation

This day will be spent enjoying the game-viewing in the Kruger National Park – with early morning and late afternoon departures from your camp. Return to your chalets during the heat of the day for some leisure time. Optional night game drives can be arranged from here to view the nocturnal nightlife present in the reserve.

Optional Activities: Day and night game drives in a 4x4 open vehicle.

Day 11: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK - JOHANNESBURG

This morning we will depart Kruger National Park and head back to Johannesburg. Your tour guide will drop you off either at Nelspruit Airport or Johannesburg International Airport to connect your flight back home or your next destination.
